Global warming climate change – Why political rhetoric has changed
The simplest explanation is that warming is global climate change in one direction. Specifically, it is where the net energy in the atmospheric system has increased enough to measurable heating. More energy in the system means that in many parts of the world warms.
One way that the Earth is warming due to an increase in the atmosphere of gases producing greenhouse gases. The brief explanation of the greenhouse effect is that the wavelength of energy reaching the Earth's surface through the atmosphere shorter than reflected back into space – a simple law of physics. Some gases in the atmosphere that the shorter waves, but over the longer block wavelengths, so the energy is returned to Earth, trapped, effectively heating things up.

Why? Well, it depends on how cynical you want to be. And how cynical depends on whether you think global climate change we are experiencing is due to human action or is it just part of the normal scheme of events in a dynamic Earth.
The important thing is to realize that either objective fact, concept or a great idea, the weather can get warm and you can feel the cold. You can get wetter or drier, stormy or quieter, more predictable and more uncertain. And all these are aspects of climate change usually have many, often interacting causes.
Politicians and their spin-doctors were smart. Left global warming climate for change when they realized that the consensus of anthropogenic global warming held the label. Good for them to broaden the discourse, otherwise they would be forced by public pressure to try to do something about global warming, the actions that would be costly and difficult agree.
