Not a bug – the dynamic city, cultural, Cleveland, Ohio
From the center of its suburbs, Cleveland, Ohio, has much to offer. The city is a dynamic mix of cultures, situated on Lake Erie. Having grown up here, these are some of my favorite places to visit if staying in the city. The best time to visit if you want to avoid the weather is very cold in late spring or early fall. You will not be disappointed.
Public Square and the City of Torre
At the heart of Cleveland is a beautiful old skyscraper called the Terminal Tower. Built in late 1920, its interior was remodeled in the lower 80's to have a large shopping center, closed call City Tower. It is impressive to say the least, with its fountains, marble floors and elegant, multi-level structure. Cleveland is where they gather to eat, shop and go to ball games. Nearby are the sports stadiums for baseball, basketball and football. This is a city that loves its sports. In the basement of the Tower of the city, you can take the subway, called Rapid Transit or RTA, on the east side or west. Rapid is fast and convenient. Many business people use every day for work. Also goes to the airport. City Tower is the busiest center of Cleveland.
Floors
If you like going for a good meal, the story is a picturesque place to go. Many restaurants are on both the east and west banks of the river Cuyahoga, which runs next to Terminal Tower. This river is where immense ore barges and other boats come and go. The navigation is used in the summer, both for professional staff worldwide. In the scenic west bank is Shooters, a popular restaurant that used to go to the water view is spectacular from there. There are concerts of existence in the summer of famous bands of many genres. Historic House power station is another very popular. This is a completely renovated old building TGIFridays electric power, Howl at the Moon Room, the Improv comedy club and more. My friends and I used to go there frequently to meet after work.
Cleveland Metroparks System
Cleveland is surrounded by a large ring of public parks that are well maintained and offer spectacular natural beauty. There are places for cooking, shelter and picnic tables, jogging trails, horseback riding and more square. This ring extends for many miles throughout the suburbs of Cleveland. My favorite is the Chagrin Reservation in the fall, when trees are changing colors. Fall is spectacular if you like nature, the colors of the living trees really stand out. There are events like horse shows, dog shows and others throughout the year. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a place popular, too, on the west side, near.
University Circle
This is a very cultural area on the east side of Cleveland, full of students from many universities are in this area, Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Art, to name a few. The Cleveland Museum of Art is an elegant building with many varied exhibits in the demand for the armory to the Egyptian mummies and tombs. Natural History Museum of Cleveland is one of my favorite show detailed dinosaur skeletons, the history of the area, the beauty of nature and how the world works through exhibitions, lectures and a planetarium. The Garden Cleveland Botanical next door, and a must for plant lovers, it even has a rain forest. The Crawford Auto Museum is elegant, and the site many weddings and parties. There you can see cars of all ages in perfect condition. Ideal for lovers of old cars.
Little Italy
This ethnic part of University Circle is a wonderful place to go to a coffee or a festival. Years have traditional festivals like the Feast of the Assumption where the streets are closed and jam of the people there like sardines. Little Italy is full of galleries. An old elementary school turned into a building full shops and galleries, and shops nearby are artistic. Is an artist's paradise. There are art walks and shows frequently. Stop at Presti's Bakery for the most amazing cakes, ever. If you are there at the crack of dawn, Presti has a small donut shop, a few of his bakery, but closes early. If you are lucky enough to catch it while it is open, the donuts are hot and fresh. It has been a tradition for area residents for many years, many years.
Chagrin Falls
A suburb of Cleveland, this is my hometown. With seven waterfalls throughout its territory, this charming city of New England has the homey flavor that occaisionally attracts movie producers, and is the site of recent motion pictures. Go to the chagrin of the Falls on Memorial Day, when a parade and festival (Blossom Time) in the park downtown. This is Americana at its best. Stop at the popcorn shop, through the street from the downtown park, where you can get ice cream, popcorn and other snacks. This is a very old historic building full of history built just above a waterfall. There is a public staircase to go beneath it and see the falls from below. If you are going to dislike in the summer, this is a must. At the heart of the city, there is also an old gazebo that used to be where the bands play music of yesteryear. This is a picturesque old town do not want to miss.
The West Side Market
If you like to buy fruit, meat and other foods directly from the suppliers themselves, the West Side Market is the place to go to race with them. There are vendors selling long-standing family of fresh chicken products, old world pastries, meats, chocolates and fruit and vegetables every imaginable. There Poles Italian, Irish, Slavs, Mexicans, Germans and other foods there. It is a crucible full of fresh food with a loyal following of people who come from all over the shop.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Science Center next door
If you like rock and roll, visit the museum or be square! Modern living building is built in Lake Erie, with exhibits, performances, and a lot of memories. Next door is the science center, with its own IMAX theater. These are wonderful places for family so be sure to take their kids and walk around both places. Often when I've been there, boat shows can be seen outside, so check in water when you are there. The lake is a center of activity in itself.
If you have the chance to visit Cleveland, remember to bring your camera. Is a diverse place, with lots to explore. Go to the latest shows, plays, museums and visiting the many world class restaurants. This city is growing and improving every day. Go see a game or two, ride the train. In the St. Patrick s Day, there is a huge parade is worth attending, whether or not you are Irish. If you actually get an adventure, rescue the country from Cedar Point or Amish (about an hour from downtown Cleveland). If you need maps, while there, standing in the Chamber of Commerce or AAA. Whatever you do, go to Tower City, downtown Cleveland is well worth visiting. Once you go, you see what all the fuss is about, this great city has it all. Cleveland really rock.
