importance of rainforest
Amazon Rainforest – Why Account
The Amazon forest is one of the last remaining places in the world to survive the onslaught of human settlements development. At the dawn of humanity, much of the land surface was covered with trees. The Middle East, England, Europe and most of America and Africa were very lush, green environment that served as the oxygen in the atmosphere.
According to author and scientist Jarred Diamond, the historical decline of many civilizations is scientifically linked to deforestation. Agriculture on deforested land depleted of nutrients soil, causing crop failure and mass starvation. Without food and wood for fuel access and construction companies collapsed. This illustrates why deforestation in the Amazon rainforest is a critical issue – our civilization is now global.
The Amazon rainforest is the world's diversity field. Currently home to 2.5 million species of insects, about 2000 mammals and birds, and thousands of species of plants, one five bird species is native to this area. Some experts estimate that every square mile has more than 75,000 different species of trees and 150,000 other plants.
Representing a means of keeping Earth 'lungs', the Amazon covers about 7 million square kilometers (1200 million acres). Most are located in Brazil (60%), with parts left in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Guyana, Venezuela, Ecuador, Suriname and French Guiana. In each of these countries, the individual battle for the survival threat to the survival of the environment.
More than a fifth of the Amazon rainforest already been lost to deforestation and the destruction is increasing. Deforestation also includes roads in the wilderness, and bring poachers traffickers of species in its path.
Continued growth and decay in the Amazon rainforest produces nutrient-rich soil. Deforestation occurs when farmers to use 'slash and burn' strategies to access these rich soils for agriculture. Once farmers have grown various crops, nutrients in the soil is depleted. The usual strategy is to give farmers the affected area and start new farms. Removing trees and brush contributes 17% to global carbon emissions – more than transportation worldwide.
Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, mainly for meat, leather and production Soy. The products are used in cosmetics, shoes, handbags and fast food. U.S. and Britain are the two biggest importers of Brazilian beef. According to Greenpeace, leading international brand names, supermarkets and fast food outlets are the main culprits are benefiting from illegal logging. Another threat is oil extraction: a large American oil company, Chevron, was recently fined three billion U.S. dollars damage environment in Ecuador. This is the estimated cost of the cleanup, expected that in ten years.
About the Author
Since 2005, when the Amazon Rainforest experienced the worst drought in 100 years, several catastrophic droughts have been attributed to global warming. This causes another problem; plants and dependent species are decimated by drought. Some scientists claim that this might be caused by deforestation itself. There are several organizations working to protect the Amazon rainforest. Some governments have adopted policies in favour of protecting it. In 2010, Ecuador decided not to drill for oil, preferring to protect this paradise than risk environmental destruction.

Tropical rainforests are very important for life on Earth. Trees breathe in carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere. Due to the climate, rainfall is abundant in these forests to maintain healthy trees and help in the germination of new trees when fall seedlings of other trees. It is important to have trees and greenery in as many places as possible. Life without trees would not exist as we know it today. The environment is contaminated and harmful microorganisms only survive. Earth Day on April 20 I think. Today many communities will participate in planting trees.
