dangerous rainforest plants
A gorilla dream
Did you know that I live in a rainforest? You probably think it's a very nice place to live but in reality it is one of the biggest problems of the world. All year round there are plenty of sun and lots of rain. I guess you could say that is a paradise lost control. The highest trees spread to enjoy the sunshine but in doing so, they choke the life from them. Rainforest is below the huge canopy of leaves and there is life of all kinds who live here.
In reality it is a very dark place and all animals who live here have had to adapt to conditions.
We have three levels in the jungle. First there is the canopy that consists of all large trees. These trees absorb all the sunlight and history as beneath them suffers from a lack of sunlight. Plant life is abundant under the trees, but there is very little wind blowing and the humidity is terrible.
Then it is the floor of the jungle. It is very dark and gets almost no rain because the other levels have already absorbed. Mosses and mushrooms of all kinds living in the floor of the jungle. This place you call a jungle or rain forest is my house. I am Gamba gorillas in Africa. I live here with my wife, Asha and our brood young children.
"Most people think that we are very dangerous animals, but in reality we are very shy and peaceful. We are called monkeys soft and we do not want to hurt anyone. We need your help because our houses are destroyed. If things continue as they are today, we could all be gone forever. It makes me feel so sad to think of a world without us in it. We were here for millions of years and now we will soon be homeless, like some humans. "Asha whined hanging his head in the despair.
Gamba rose and stretched his long arms. They hung almost to his feet.
"Do not worry if we say not enough humans Asha maybe they will find a way to leave our homes alone. "Her short chubby body swaying to and Asha gave him a big hug. Asha reached around his broad chest and patted his back gently.
"Oh how I wish I could go to sleep at night and not have to worry about our homes like being ripped apart. Every day I listen to the sounds of big machines monster, and I pray every day humans will love in their hearts to the ecological system. Change is not always a good thing! "It growled loudly.
"I know! "Gamba said that his long fingers caressing the brown hair Asha." We look a bit like people you'd think they would not want to destroy us. Their hands and feet are just like ours. We can taste, smell, touch, hear and see the way they do. We are like a family does not know you? "
Gamba folded up his lips and kissed her without hair on Asha's face. He hated to see Asha sad and he would do all he could see that she was also glad he could do it.
"Yes, but we do not have hair under our armpits as they do!" It smiles showing his sharp teeth, but worn.
"No we are not! They also have fingerprints. We print nose! "He chuckled.
"Would not it be funny to see people pressing their noses to prove who they really were the police? "His belly shook with laughter and his forehead was swinging from side to side." They say we have the big head and I guess we do. We are not selfish or violent as they are. "He continued to speak in the hope that Asha would go back moral and stir the spirit of depression.
Gorilla has tiny little ears and eyes dark brown. They have no tail to help them climb, grasp or swing from trees and they are very much intelligent as humans. They are not greedy for power, as being human. They just want to be left alone to live their lives in peace.
"Well I better get to work and see if I can get my 50 pounds of food for the day. Are you coming with me? "He muttered he held out the hand of Asha.
"Since we do not drink water, I guess I'll Mosey with you. I'm a little hungry myself. I will have leaves, fruit, bark trees, flowers and maybe I can find a few bulbs of certain plants. "She said with a smile.
"You look for those things and I'll find some ants and termites in this big tree. When we finished, we can take turns grooming each other. You can have all the bugs you find on me to eat. "He sneered as knuckle walking." Maybe before I die, I will learn to swim as humans and crocodiles. Was not that a hoot? "
"I can see now, your big belly floating along your long arms and short legs to wade in the water. You are so stupid Gamba. You could swim like a rock do not know you? "It pulling the tongue of mischief. Gamba had managed to drive his depression after at least for now. He loved her dearly and hope to spend the rest of his thirty years and over with it.
As the day began to draw to a close and Asha began Gamba to build a "nest" for the night. They curl up in a fetal position and rest. As they gathered leaves and other plant materials they have shaped nest in a bowl-shaped bed. It would be just big enough for their families. Nests are shared by the mother and her children. None of the foreign allowed.
"I wish I could talk like humans! "Asha sigh she lay down for the night." Would not it be wonderful if we could all understand each other? We could say that humans how our forest means to us and perhaps our children will be able to grow if we are not lost forever! "
"I can not speak like humans. They have a pretty bad one language said. I think we can do what we want to do. If we work diligently and are persistent, we will achieve our goals. For now, however, we need to get some shut eye as humans say. "
Night came and the jungle sounds could be heard speaking at the treetops. Gamba and Asha were safe in their beloved home to dream of a paradise to come.

Parasite Rex Parasite Rex (with a New Epilogue): Inside the Bizarre World of Nature’s Most Dangerous Creatures $7.58 Many books provoke a visceral reaction, but few really make you itch. Science writer Carl Zimmer’s Parasite Rex does just that, provoking a deliciously creepy sense of paranoia in the reader as it explores a long-misunderstood realm of science. While entomologists love to announce that there are more species of insects than all other animals combined, few parasitologists choose to trump that… |
