Rainforests are the world’s best natural resource – the most ancient, complex, potent and bio-actively varied natural phenomenon on earth. It is the wealthiest biological incubator on earth, supporting vast plant, animal and insect species – a virtual library of the living creation.
The rain forest has from ancient times been a symbol of mystery and power, a sanctified link between human and nature. More than half of all plant and animal species live there. This amazing biome is quickly fading away.
Raising awareness of the problems is simply not enough. Aid the rainforest. The dilemma and the resolution to this are both economic. Rainforests are mostly being harvested for unsustainable resources like timber and for agriculture. Many of today’s food staples originated in the rainforest, including tomatoes, corn, and chocolate, but we use a mere fraction of its edible plants. But there is a high rate of unique creatures vanishing and species extinction, the very ones that might provide cures and disease-resistant crops. Medicine knows only a fraction of the plant species, and the indigenous tribes and healers that use these plants, are swiftly disappearing. Aid the rainforest – harvest the medicinal plants, fruits, nuts, oils and other resources like rubber and chocolate – sustainably. Protect the rain forest for long term profits for now and our future children. To save the rainforest, let’s inform and expand ethical, viable and economic alternatives. Generate market demand and income from sustainable rainforest resources, for an ecologically balanced partnership. The unimaginable wealth of the indigenous plants is like gold, with each passing day, its discovery eroded by destructive human machines and fire.
